Regatta Week

Hello readers! The end of August is nearing us, which means the countdown to Autumn!
Summer is closing and although we didnt have QUITE the bbq summer we are so often promised, we did have a few good spells of sunshine, and regatta week was one of them!

To fit in with the bustling activity, we designed a regatta themed window to attract passers-by. With our varied collection of bunting and boat paintings, our sailing decorations were put on fine display!

Mersea is always busy at this time of year, tourists coming to sample the tastes of our famous mersea oysters, natives enjoying a last of the summer "cup of tea" in the cafe, children crabbing on the pier, collecting seashells and of course the dabchicks and their annual week of sailing.... An interesting medley of people gathered as usual, and we were lucky to have some very quirky customers in the shop too! One lady commented on our vintage clothing selection, saying that she always believed that if you bought second hand clothing, you would become the person who originally owned it!

A curious analogy... although i would prefer to think that its the wearer who carries the clothes, rather than the clothes wearing the owner!

Still, that hasnt put off heather, our resident clothing specialist displaying her lovely vintage and second hand dresses... Come into the shop and have a look through the collection, especially before the summer stock goes! We offer a buy and sell service, so if you have any good condition clothes that you would like us to sell on for you, then please contact us at the shop.

Hope you all enjoy the last few weeks of Summer!
To see in the approaching fall, we will also be open on monday mornings
(but only until November)
